Two leading hospitals in India have decided to stop treating patients from Bangladesh. The decision comes after alleged incidents of disrespect to the Indian flag in Bangladesh. Kolkata 's JN Ray Hospital was the first to announce the decision on Friday,

"We want to iterate that Bangladeshi people have insulted us, have mistreated our people and we shall not provide any service to them...,” an executive of Agartala’s ILS Hospitals told the media Monday.

JN Ray Hospital in Kolkata has decided to stop treating Bangladeshi patients indefinitely due to the recent unrest situation in Bangladesh, particularly the anti-Hindu violence and disrespect towards the Indian national flag.

Subhranshu Bhakta, the hospital's director, explained that while medical care is a noble profession, the dignity of the nation takes precedence.

Kolkata’s JN Ray Hospital has decided to refuse treatment to Bangladeshi patients following incidents of violence against Hindus and arrest of priest Chinmoy Krishna Das.

This decision coincided with India's call for a "fair and transparent trial" for Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who was recently arrested on treason charges in Bangladesh. On Friday, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed India's concerns over attacks on Hindus and other minority communities in Bangladesh.

The hospital official urged other city hospitals to follow the same step as a sign of protest against the alleged atrocities on minorities in Bangladesh.

An official of the JN Ray Hospital in north Kolkata said the decision was forced by insults meted out to the Indian flag by Bangladeshi nationals.
